Hello, furriends. Normally, when I share poetry, it’s part of a thoughtful analysis or one of my signature haiku collections. But today, I want to do something different.
A few days ago, we lost a true hero—Chris Arsenault, founder of Happy Cat Sanctuary. Chris gave his life trying to save the cats he loved, and many of those cats crossed the bridge with him. Even though I never met Chris, I feel the weight of his love, his loss, and his legacy.
So this time, there’s no commentary. No haikus. Just one poem, from my heart, in honor of Chris and the cats who walked beside him—on this side of the veil, and the next.
May they find peace, warmth, and sunbeams that never fade.
Purrs and comfort,

“The Gate Was Open”
A poem by Tyson the Cat
The gate was open, wide and warm,
No clang, no latch, no storm.
Just silence shaped like meadow breeze
And cats beneath the trees.
They gathered soft on silent feet,
In sun-drenched lines, a calm heartbeat.
Not one meowed. They simply knew—
The one who loved them all came through.
A thousand purrs rose on the air,
And tails curled high with tender care.
He knelt. They came. He wept. They stayed.
No soul was lost. No debt unpaid.
